David “Dave” Jordan is a guitarist and one of the main songwriters of Long Distance Calling. Founded in Münster in 2006, the band mainly plays expansive instrumental pieces between post-rock, progressive rock, and post-metal – including at Hamburg’s Elbphilharmonie in 2022.
His second home is the workbench: in 2004 he started at Rare Guitar, where he stayed for eight years and increasingly worked in the workshop. At the end of 2012, he went freelance with Soundranger – repairing, modifying, restoring, and optimizing guitars and basses, often combined with sound consulting. He also has experience as a guitar technician for Sasha, H-Blockx, and Jupiter Jones, as well as a studio engineer and producer.
The two worlds overlap: the guitar and bass recordings for several LDC albums – including Boundless, How Do We Want To Live? and Eraser – were created at Soundranger Studio, recorded by Jordan himself.

Devin Townsend is one of those artists who makes genre labels feel wonderfully inadequate. The Canadian musician, vocalist, guitarist, producer, and sonic architect has spent decades moving between progressive metal, ambient music, industrial textures, pop, rock, orchestral grandeur, and his own unmistakable universe.
Townsend first made his mark as the creative force behind Strapping Young Lad, later expanding his vision through the Devin Townsend Project, his solo work, and projects such as Casualties of Cool. Across all these chapters, his music has remained unmistakably his own: massive walls of sound, emotional depth, razor-sharp songwriting, surreal humour, sudden left turns, and a cinematic sense of scale.
With albums such as Ocean Machine, Terria, Ziltoid the Omniscient, Empath, Lightwork, PowerNerd, and his monumental 2026 release The Moth, Devin Townsend has built a body of work that is as eccentric as it is deeply human. Whether on stage or in the studio, he remains a true original: technically brilliant, emotionally fearless, and creatively restless in the best possible way.

Fredrik Åkesson, the Swedish guitar virtuoso, became a member of Opeth in 2007, right at the time when the band was undergoing a significant transformation. Under the creative leadership of Mikael Åkerfeldt, Opeth shifted from their death metal roots to embrace a progressive rock sound heavily influenced by the 70s. Åkesson was the ideal fit for this new direction.
His remarkable technique, intuitive sense for complex harmonies, and masterful solos brought a fresh energy to the band. Albums like Watershed, Heritage, and Pale Communion highlight his distinctive style, seamlessly blending with Opeth's evolving sound. "As Opeth's lead guitarist, my biggest challenge is finding the right complements to Mikael's intricate compositions," Åkesson shares about his role.
Åkesson's impressive career stretches beyond Opeth. Born in the early 70s, he made a name for himself with bands like Talisman, Arch Enemy, and Krux, showcasing his wide-ranging skills. In 2022, he contributed his guitar magic to Ghost's Impera album, adding even more depth to its sound.

Glenn Fricker is the producer, engineer, and loudmouth behind Spectre Sound Studios, the YouTube channel that’s spent more than a decade helping musicians make better records at home — usually while yelling at them to change their strings and stop blaming their gear.
A former factory worker turned recording engineer, Glenn built Spectre Sound Studios around a simple idea: you don’t need a million-dollar studio to make a great record. You need to know what actually matters. That philosophy has helped the channel reach more than 150 million views, with brutally honest gear reviews, recording tutorials, myth-busting experiments, and an unwavering willingness to call out overpriced nonsense when he sees it.
More importantly, Spectre Sound Studios has helped an entire generation of bedroom producers realize that professional-quality recording is within reach. From teaching musicians how to record guitars and drums properly, to proving that affordable equipment can compete with expensive studio gear, Glenn has consistently pushed the message that skill matters more than price tags.
He’s loud, opinionated, frequently inappropriate, and absolutely unapologetic about helping musicians make better records. (This usually starts with turning off the pitch correction and learning to sing.)

Peter Tägtgren is the man behind two of Sweden's most influential metal projects of the past three decades: Hypocrisy and Pain.
Born in 1970, he started out on drums and picked up guitar, bass and keyboards along the way. He founded Hypocrisy in the early nineties – at first a one-man band, with Tägtgren playing every instrument himself. It grew into a death metal institution with 13 studio albums, most recently "Worship" (2021). In 2026 the band is out on the "Mass Hallucination" tour.
Pain followed in 1996, his solo run somewhere between industrial and metal. Every instrument, every vocal, every song written by him. Current album "I Am" came out in 2024 on Nuclear Blast, with his son Sebastian behind the kit.
The other half of his career happens behind the desk. His Abyss Studio in Pärlby, Sweden, produced records that shaped the sound of European extreme metal: Immortal, Dimmu Borgir, Celtic Frost, Amon Amarth, Children of Bodom, Sabaton, Marduk, Dark Funeral. You can hear that these mixes come from someone who plays, writes and sings himself.
From 2015 on, Tägtgren wrote and produced two albums for Lindemann, his project with Rammstein singer Till Lindemann, before leaving in 2020. Add vocals for Bloodbath and Lock Up, live guitar for Marduk. The man does not do downtime.

Detroit is home to guitarist and Candyrat recording artist, Sammy Boller. Hailed by Guitar World as “one of electric guitars most promising names,” Sammy’s debut instrumental album, Kingdom Of The Sun, was released in March, 2020 to critical acclaim.
A former music student at the University of Michigan, Sammy catapulted onto the national radar in 2012, when Joe Satriani selected him as a winner in Guitar Center’s “Master Satriani” competition. Now, an internationally-acclaimed player, Boller has amassed a large and loyal online following, with over half a million followers across social media.
In 2016, Sammy and his band, Citizen Zero, signed with Wind-up Records/Concord Music Group. The band's first full-length LP ("State of Mind") received critical acclaim and garnered multiple radio singles including the debut single 'Go (Let Me Save You)', which peaked in the Top 15 on the Billboard Mainstream Rock Chart. In 2025, Citizen Zero announced their reunion and is currently back in the studio working on new music.
As a sought after hired gun, Sammy has performed with Scott Stapp (Creed), Tesla and most recently became a full time touring member of the Goo Goo Dolls. Outside of his own live touring schedule, Sammy also spends time on the road with world-renowned amplifier wizard Dave Friedman (Friedman Amplification). The two regularly embark on runs through the States and Europe to sponsor clinics and gear demonstrations. In addition to his support role with Friedman, Boller is also a contributing columnist for Guitar World Magazine.
When asked to describe his influences and approach, Sammy says, "My guitar playing has always been about plugging into an amp and blowing the walls down. I grew up wanting to be Eddie Van Halen and Randy Rhoads, but over time I've found my own dark and aggressive style. These days, my dream as a musician is to make people feel as connected to the cosmos as I feel when I play the guitar. I'd love nothing more than that."

Steffen Kummerer is one of the defining figures in modern extreme metal. As vocalist, guitarist, songwriter and creative force behind Obscura, he blends technical precision, complex songwriting and melodic depth into a sound that has made a lasting impact on the international metal scene.
With Obscura, Kummerer helped bring German technical death metal to a global audience – virtuosic, progressive and always driven by a strong sense of structure and atmosphere. Albums such as Cosmogenesis, Omnivium, Akróasis, Diluvium, A Valediction and the latest release A Sonication show a band constantly evolving while staying true to its uncompromising identity.
Alongside Obscura, Kummerer channels a darker, colder side of his artistry through Thulcandra: melodic blackened death metal rooted in the Scandinavian spirit of the 1990s, yet sharpened by his own distinct vision. Whether on stage, in the studio or behind the guitar, Steffen Kummerer is a musician who does more than play extreme metal – he shapes it.
